To ensure a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all members we kindly ask that you adhere to the following gym rules and guidelines.
- Members Only – The Gowna Community Gym is strictly for registered members. Allowing non-members to access the gym using your key fob is not permitted. Any member found sharing their access with others may have their membership reviewed or revoked.
- Use at Your Own Risk – Members use the gym facilities at their own risk. The committee is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, or health issues that may occur while using the gym or its equipment. It is each member’s responsibility to use the equipment safely and within their own physical limits. If you are unsure how to use any equipment, please seek guidance before use.
- Mandatory Sign-In – All members must sign in upon entering the gym, recording the date and time of arrival. This helps us monitor facility usage and ensure the safety and security of all members.
- Respect Gym Equipment & Facilities – Please handle all gym equipment with care. Do not drop weights, misuse machines, or engage in activities that could damage equipment. If you notice any broken or malfunctioning equipment, report it to the committee immediately so it can be repaired or replaced.
- Respect Other Gym Users – Be considerate of other members by respecting their personal space and privacy. Avoid unnecessary interruptions, keep noise levels to a minimum, and allow others to complete their workouts without disruption.
- Maintain Cleanliness & Order – Always return weights, dumbbells, and other equipment to their designated places after use. A clean and organised gym benefits everyone, so please do your part in keeping the facility tidy.
- Wear Appropriate Gym Attire – Proper athletic clothing and footwear (such as gym shoes or runners) must be worn at all times. Open-toed shoes, sandals, or inappropriate clothing that may pose a safety risk are not permitted.
- Hygiene & Equipment Cleaning – For the comfort and safety of all members, please wipe down all equipment, benches, weights, and bars after use. This helps maintain a hygienic environment and prevents the spread of germs.
- Report Any Issues – If you notice any damaged or faulty equipment, unsafe conditions, or maintenance concerns, please notify a committee member as soon as possible. Prompt reporting allows us to keep the gym in the best possible condition for all members.
- No Smoking, Alcohol, or Drugs – Smoking, alcohol consumption, and the use of any illegal or recreational drugs are strictly prohibited within the gym facility. Any member found violating this rule may face immediate disciplinary action.
- Turn Off Equipment After Use – When you finish using any electronic or powered gym equipment, such as treadmills or exercise bikes, please switch them off properly to conserve energy and ensure they are ready for the next user.
- CCTV operates 24/7 to ensure the safety and security of all members. If a gym rule is violated, a warning will be issued. Continued disregard for the rules may result in the suspension or cancellation of your membership. Should the committee revoke a membership, a full refund will be provided. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe and respectful gym environment for everyone.
